Rubber Splicing Methods

  • Butt Splice: Used for fabricating endless gaskets where there is limited or no strain on the splice.

  • Bias Splice: An alternative to the butt splice, used when the cross-sectional area is insufficient to form a suitable bond with a standard butt splice.

  • Step Splice: Provides maximum bond strength; permits nominal deformation under compression or tension when used as a static seal.

  • Corner Splice: Used to form gaskets with special configurations. These provide a satisfactory static seal where the splice is not under strain.

  • Molded Splices: An economical method for producing complete gaskets by splicing extruded shapes.
