Our Extruded Rubber Capabilities
Versatile Manufacturing: We produce everything from one-time custom parts to high-volume production runs.
Custom Shapes & Profiles: * O-ring cords (up to 7 inches in diameter).
Tubing, squares, and rectangles.
Rectangles up to 2.5 inches thick and 15 inches wide.
Quality Standards: All products meet commercial industry standards, and can meet rigid military specifications if required.
Advanced Microwave Vulcanization
We utilize continuous microwave vulcanization, the most technologically advanced method for curing rubber. This process offers:
Precision: Maintains much closer tolerances than traditional methods.
Cost-Efficiency: Highly economical for typical long-length runs.
In-Line Cutting: An available option to further reduce production costs.
The Extrusion Process
The manufacturing of extruded rubber involves several critical stages where material behavior is closely monitored:
Feeding: Un-vulcanized rubber compound is fed into the extruder.
Compression: Revolving screw flutes carry the rubber forward, building temperature and pressure as it nears the die.
Shaping: The uncured rubber is forced through the die, where it naturally “swells” based on the compound’s hardness and type.
Environmental Variables: Factors like temperature and pressure require plus/minus tolerances on the cross-section as the rubber leaves the die.
Vulcanization Effects: During curing, the rubber will swell or shrink in both length and cross-section.
Final Dimensions: Post-vulcanization, dimensions tend to reduce more in the center of a length than at the ends.
