Natural Rubber

Major Advantages
  • Mechanical Strength: Exhibits high resilience, good tensile strength, and excellent tear resistance.
  • Durability: Offers notable wear resistance and good flexing qualities, even at low temperatures.
  • Stability: Features low permanent set characteristics, meaning it returns to its original shape effectively after deformation.
  • Versatility: In its uncured gum state, it can be molded into parts, extruded into profiles/tubing, or calendered into sheet goods.
  • Temperature Range: Maintains an effective operating range of -40°F to 160°F.
Limitations
  • Chemical Sensitivity: Does not perform well when exposed to chemicals or petroleum derivatives (including petrochemicals).
  • Environmental Degradation: Not recommended for outdoor use where it faces exposure to:
    • Sunlight
    • Ozone or Oxygen
    • Heat aging
