Lathe Cut Rubber Washers are high-performance sealing components produced by rotating a rubber tube on a mandrel at high speeds and cutting them to precise dimensions using a specialized knife.
Key Benefits
Cost-Performance: Offers the maximum value for many industrial applications.
Superior Sealing: Ideal for static seals due to a square or rectangular cross-section that provides a wider sealing surface than molded O-rings.
Compression Resistance: Exhibits better resistance to “compression set” compared to standard O-rings.
Economic Advantage: Generally less expensive than molded alternatives while meeting all job specifications.
No Setup Fees: AAA-ACME Rubber maintains an extensive mandrel inventory, eliminating setup charges for most sizes.
Manufacturing Capabilities
Product Range: Includes seals, gaskets, rollers, and sleeves.
Precision Finishing: State-of-the-art grinding equipment ensures outer surfaces meet close tolerances.
High Volume: Advanced machinery allows for high-speed, precision, and large-scale production.
Methods of Tube Production
Before the lathe cutting process begins, the base rubber tube is created using one of several methods:
Molding: Injection or compression molding.
Extrusion: Continuous vulcanization.
Mandrel Curing (for Rollers and Sleeves):
The profile is extruded and placed on a specific curing mandrel.
It is wrapped tightly with fabric to maintain contact with the mandrel.
The unit is vulcanized in an open steam autoclave.
The outside diameter is ground post-vulcanization to reach the final required dimensions.
